Rita Redfield of Redfield Gallery invites Sunne Savage to host a summer exhibit for a second year. The exhibition,  MAINE COASTAL VIEWS: 1880-1980, runs August 6 though August 24, 2009. Redfield Gallery is located at 125 Main Street, Northeast Harbor, Maine.

MAINE COASTAL VIEWS: 1880-1980  features paintings, watercolors and ink drawings inspired by the rugged coast , Monhegan Island and harbor towns.  In the image above titled “The Bowdoin, Monhegan Island,” Edward Willis Redfield captures the feel of a beautiful summer afternoon through his brushwork and colors that convey the sparkling light and breezy atmosphere of the day, The famed eighty-eight foot schooner, ‘The Bowdoin’, is moored just outside of the natural harbor formed by Monhegan and Manana Island.  Built in 1921, in East Boothbay, the Bowdoin was the official sailing vessel and a great symbol of strength for the citizenry, as she was constructed to withstand the perils of Artic exploration.

MAINE COASTAL VIEWS: 1880-1980 also features work by A.T. Bricher, William Partidge Burbee, Wilson Irvine, Charles Woodbury , Sally Michel , Tony Vevers and William Thon. For more information please contact Sunne Savage at the Redfield Gallery, 207 276 3609.
